Terms of Use

The rules for playing Moonshots Bingo: a free, fan-made game with no prizes, no purchases and no wagering.

What changed on October 23, 2026

  • If you don't use your account for 24 months, we'll delete it, after emailing you a warning at 23 months. Signing in or playing keeps it.
  • Each pod now keeps only its newest 100 messages. Older ones are deleted automatically.
  • "Who can play" now says only an account we ended for breaking these terms bars you from coming back.
  • Earlier, on October 21, 2026: site administrators can open a pod to review it and delete a message or the whole pod; we can block the email address of an account we end; usernames and new pod names can't contain profanity; we record which version of these terms you accepted; share buttons are ordinary links; and we post a notice of an important change when it takes effect.

These terms are the rules for using Moonshots Bingo, a free, fan-made prediction game for the Moonshots podcast. The site is run by David Corteville, an individual. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean David Corteville, and "you" means anyone who uses the site. We've tried to keep them readable.

The short version

  • The game is free. There is nothing to buy, nothing to stake and no prizes. Points have no value.
  • You need to be at least 13 to sign in. One account per person.
  • Pick a username that doesn't pretend to be someone else, and keep your email account secure.
  • Scoring is automatic. We may correct it, and our call on scores is final for the game.
  • You own what you write. You let us show it on the site so the game works.
  • Be decent. No harassment, spam, cheating or attacks on the site. We can remove content and block accounts that break these rules.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your profile.
  • Moonshots Bingo is not affiliated with the podcast or its hosts. See the disclaimer.

Agreeing to these terms

The sign-in page asks you to agree to these terms and confirm you are 13 or older. By signing in, you accept them, and we record when you did and which version you accepted. If you use the site without signing in, these terms still apply to that use. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information, and you should read it too. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or sign in. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you should have a parent's or guardian's permission where local law requires it.

You may not use the site if the law where you live prohibits it, or if we have previously ended your account for breaking these terms.

Your account

Signing in. There are no passwords. You sign in with a one-time link we email to you, and the first time you use a link your account is created. Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you, so keep your email account secure. If you think someone else has used your account, use "Sign out of all devices" on your profile and tell us.

One account per person. Each person may have one account. Don't create or use extra accounts, and don't share an account with someone else.

Usernames. Your username is public (see the Privacy Policy), and you can't change it yourself once it's set. It must not:

  • impersonate, or suggest you are, any of the podcast's hosts, the site's operator, or any other real person or organization;
  • be offensive, hateful, sexually explicit or harassing;
  • contain profanity or slurs;
  • contain someone else's personal information.

The site turns down usernames that contain common profanity, but no filter catches everything, so these rules apply either way. Because your username appears on public pages, we suggest one that doesn't reveal your real name. We may reset or rename a username that breaks these rules.

The game

Free, with no prizes. Moonshots Bingo is free to play. There is no purchase, entry fee or payment of any kind, and no prizes in cash, gift cards, goods or anything else. Points, ranks, wins and badges are for fun only. They have no monetary value and can't be bought, sold, traded or exchanged. Our Free to Play page explains this in more detail.

Automatic cards. Once you have a username, the game deals you a card for each round automatically, even if you don't edit it. You can change your picks until the episode the card is for is published. Then every card locks and can't be changed. While the round is open, you can also lock your own card early with "Lock it in", and unlock it again.

Scoring. Cards are scored automatically against the episode's captions or transcript. Automatic scoring can make mistakes. Results are provisional for a review period after they're posted (usually 72 hours), and we may correct them during that time. After that they're final, though we may still fix an obvious error. Our decision on scores, ranks and winners is final for the purposes of the game.

Changes to the game. We may change how the game works at any time, including scoring rules, tile values, features and timing. We may also pause or end the game.

Your content

"Your content" means anything you add to the site: your username, pod names, pod messages, tile requests and the notes you send with them.

You keep ownership. You own your content. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display and adapt it as needed to run, show and improve the site. That license ends when your content is deleted, with two exceptions:

  • If a tile phrase you requested is approved, the phrase becomes part of the game's tile catalog. It stays in the game after you delete your account, without your name attached.
  • Copies kept for a limited time in backups, or where the law requires us to keep them.

You are responsible for it. Only post content you have the right to post. Don't post anything that breaks these terms or the law.

Acceptable use

Don't use the site to:

  • harass, threaten, bully or abuse anyone, or post hateful, violent or sexually explicit material;
  • post anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else's rights, including their privacy, copyright or trademarks;
  • send spam, advertising, chain messages or links to harmful sites;
  • impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your connection to the podcast or its hosts;
  • scrape, crawl or harvest data from the site, or use bots, scripts or other automation to play, except ordinary search-engine indexing of public pages;
  • probe, test or get around the site's security, rate limits or access controls, or try to access accounts or data that aren't yours;
  • interfere with the site's operation, including by overloading it;
  • manipulate scoring, results or leaderboards, including by using multiple accounts or coordinating fake accounts;
  • run any bet, wager or paid contest based on the game (see Free to Play).

If you find a security problem, please tell us at legal@moonshotbingo.com instead of testing it further.

Pods

Pods are private groups. Only their members can see a pod's members and messages, except site administrators reviewing a pod (see below). Anyone signed in who has a pod's invite link or code can join it, so share them only with people you want in. Pod names can't contain profanity.

The pod's owner can remove members, delete any message in the pod, and reset the invite link and code. The old link and code stop working at once. You can delete your own messages. Each pod keeps only its newest 100 messages. Older ones are deleted automatically.

We don't actively monitor pod chat, but site administrators can open a pod to review its members and messages, for example after a report, and can delete any message or the whole pod. These terms still apply inside pods. If you see something that breaks them, use the "Report" link on the message or email legal@moonshotbingo.com.

Moderation

We may, at our discretion and without notice, remove or hide content, reset or rename a username, sign an account out, or suspend or end an account and block the email address it used from signing in again, if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms, puts other people or the site at risk, or is required by law. We are not obliged to review content before or after it is posted, and we don't promise to catch everything.

If you think we got a decision wrong, email us and we'll take another look.

Leaving the site

You can stop using the site at any time. You can delete your account yourself from your profile. If you don't use your account for 24 months, we'll delete it, after emailing you a warning. The Privacy Policy explains how that works, and exactly what is deleted and what remains.

If your account ends, for any reason, the sections of these terms that by their nature should continue will continue. That includes the license for approved tile phrases, the warranty disclaimers and the limits on liability.

Intellectual property

The site's own code, design, text and graphics belong to us or are licensed to us. You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial play and share links to it. Don't copy, sell or reuse the site itself without our permission.

"Moonshots", the names of the podcast's host and panelists, and any related names and logos belong to their owners. We use them only to identify the show and the people on it. Using them here doesn't mean they endorse or are connected with the site. See the disclaimer.

If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright or other rights, email legal@moonshotbingo.com with:

  • your name and contact details;
  • what you believe is being infringed;
  • where it appears on the site, ideally with a link;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized, and that your notice is accurate.

We'll review it and, where appropriate, remove the material. We may end the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.

Other sites

The site links to other sites, such as YouTube and the hosts' own pages. The site's share buttons are ordinary links too. They open X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky or Facebook with a draft post, and nothing is posted unless you send it yourself. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for them. Their own terms and privacy policies apply once you leave Moonshots Bingo.

No warranties

Moonshots Bingo is a free hobby project, provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties of any kind, express or implied, including about merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. In particular, we don't promise that:

  • the site will always be available, fast, secure or free of errors;
  • automatic scoring, transcripts or tile values will always be accurate;
  • content will never be lost.

Nothing on the site is professional advice of any kind.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the site;
  • because the site is free, our total liability to you for all claims relating to the site is limited to US $50.

Some places don't allow some of these limits. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.

Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, if someone brings a claim against us because of content you posted or because you broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim. This doesn't apply to the extent the claim was caused by our own fault.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll post the new version here and change the "Last updated" date. For important changes, we'll also put a notice on the site when they take effect, keep it up for at least two weeks, and say at the top of this page what changed. If you keep using the site after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you don't, please stop using the site and delete your account.

Disputes

If you have a problem with the site or these terms, please email us first at legal@moonshotbingo.com. Most issues can be sorted out quickly, and we'll try in good faith to resolve yours informally. This doesn't take away any right you have to bring a claim or to contact a consumer protection authority.

General terms

  • Entire agreement. These terms, including the Free to Play page, are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
  • Severability. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • No waiver. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You can't transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to anyone who takes over running the site, as long as your rights aren't reduced.
  • No partnership. These terms don't create any partnership, employment or agency relationship.
